Our Most Important Partner In This Life!
YOU WITH YOUR BODY
This is the most important partnership that exists in your life. This body- is your ULTIMATE TOOL. It is what allows you to do all of the things you do. It is how you do your job, your hobbies, and how you care for your family. How you love and relate. When this tool stops working- we are NOT able to do the things we want and need to do. There is nothing more important than caring for this body, this self. If we are not resourced, we cannot be a resource for others.
I think people tend to view their bodies as this machine that should perform and work for them. Rather than viewing it as a true partnership, a back and forth. Partnerships take input and contribution from both parties, and they take TRUST. A lot of times when people have gone through pain, injury, or illness, they lose trust. They feel let down, disappointed, or betrayed by their bodies, by their system, and by their partner. Engaging in self-care can be an exploration of re-establishing trust.
“Doing your part” might look like taking a self-care class, rolling out, or doing some exercise. But it could also look like getting plenty of sleep, taking a nap, drinking plenty of water, eating the right kind of food, writing in your journal, talking to a friend, having a good laugh, or taking a moment to watch a sunset. All of these things nourish our systems and affect the state of our tissue. Especially when we have something that we are trying to overcome like an injury or an illness. We have to give our systems every bit of possible support.
Engaging in this partnership with your SELF is the most important thing you can do for your health. If you are not engaged, connected, and AWARE- if you do not take the time to pause and check in- you will not pick up on the messages your body is trying to send you. It is trying to communicate with you all the time, often we just don’t listen or don’t know how to interpret the messages. Take the time to really get to know the most important partner you have in this life.
Your body is geared to heal, it is working every moment of every day to bring you into balance. It is doing its part- and you have to do your part too.
